About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Amsterdam > Shanghai > London for a Dutch national, does 144h permit apply?

I'm a Dutch national and will travel to Shanghai for a conference then on to another conference in London, can I enter Shanghai with the 144h transit visa?

Thanks Zupan. The only stop I didnt' mention is that after London I travel back to Amsterdam. Is that a problem? Is that more of a roundtrip and thus not considered valid for a "transit" visa?

Yes, your itinerary:

Amsterdam - Shanghai - London

Is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area under the condition that there are no other stops you did not mention.

Lucia, everything that really matters are the immediate points, before and after your Chinese destination. Everything before and after is literally irrelevant.

Your immediate points are Amsterdam and London and this is that really matters.

To conclude, you are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai.
