About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

London- Athens-Beijing-Athens-London

On the same ticket but have spent 1 week in Athens ahead of going to Bejing. Then flying directly back to London via Athens on the same ticket. Do I qualify for a 72 hours visa for Beijing?

Lilli, your itinerary is not eligible for any kind of visa free transit because you have before and after your Chinese destination, the same country. i.e. Greece. Simply speaking, only the points before and after your Chinese destination matter and everything else is irrelevant. Since your itinerary is considered a visit to China, you will have to obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa in advance.
