Going to Sanya for holiday, then want to visit Shanghai

Hi,
I want to take a holiday in China, would like to visit Sanya first, then visit Shanghai. In this case, can I use the visa from Hainan to Shanghai, then fly back to Stockholm? Thanks.

Your itinerary is very simple. You need just a single entry Chinese tourist (L) visa obtained in advance. This visa will be activated upon your landing in Sanya and will remain valid until your final departure from China. I realize that many people get confused when traveling to Hainan because they think that Hainan has different visa regime. In reality, Hainan is just another part of mainland China and all the laws, including the visa and immigration laws are the same as in the rest of the mainland China. In other words, when you fly from Sanya to Shanghai it is the same as taking a train from Beijing to Shanghai. To conclude, you need just a single entry visa and that's it.
