authentication of document needed for a work visa

I am confused about the steps we need to take. We have a criminal background check that needs to be authenticated by the state department. After we receive that do we have to authenticate that with the chinese consulate or just include the state department authentication with all the supporting documents for the work visa? Thank you

you have to get it authenticated by Chinese consulate before you apply for the work visa.
