About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

One day stop in China on a cruise

1 UK national and 1 US national on Celebrity cruise between Japan and Hong Kong. Visiting Kagoshima, Japan, then Shanghai, China (for 14 hours), then Cheju City, South Korea for a technical stop, then Keelung, Taiwan. Do we need China visas?

This is a Japan, China & Taiwan Cruise with Celebrity Millennium if I'm not wrong. In this case, Shanghai is perfectly located between a Japanese port (Kagoshima) and a South Korean port (Jeju) from where the ship continues toward Taiwan and Hong Kong in the end. Again, if I'm not wrong about your cruise and its itinerary, you are both eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in Shanghai and you will be able to explore the city absolutely visa free.
