About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Arriving at end of cruise

We're arriving in Shanghai at the end of a Celebrity cruise (coming from S Korea) and then flying out of Shanghai back to S Korea. Can we use the 72-hour visa-free exemption?

Unfortunately not because an itinerary:

South Korea - Shanghai - South Korea

Is not a transit. This is just a return trip or a visit to China, sou you will need a Chinese tourist (L) visa obtained in advance. The good detail is in the fact that US citizens are eligible for 10 year, multiple entry visa for China.
