Cruise ends in Shanghai, flying out of Shanghai next day

Hello, I am a U.S. citizen and the cruise I'm taking ends in Shanghai. The second to last stop is South Korea. I will be staying overnight in Shanghai (so I will be there less than 48 hours) and flying back to South Korea the next day to continue my vacation. Do I need a visa? If so, what kind?

You need a tourist (L) visa since your entry and exit country are the same
