About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Wuhan

We are traveling from Thailand to America with a 12 hour layover in Wuhan

I'm American and my wife is Thai. And would like to visit the city. Do we need a Visa?

You have two options:

- You can apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Wuhan. This is by far the easiest way to be allowed to exit the airport and make a short visit to the city. Anyway, this option depends entirely on the discretion decision of immigration authorities on the day when you will arrive in Wuhan. In other words, they can legally deny you an entry permit.
- You can also apply for a transit (G) visa in advance. This procedure is practically usual visa obtaining procedure and it also not free. Anyway, this is the only way you can secure that you will be definitely allowed to exit the airport.

If I was you, I would go after an entry permit upon arrival because the obtaining of transit visas is in my opinion too costly and complicated for just 12 hours.
