About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Stop in chongqing

I am a Uk passport holder gluing from Bali to Shanghai on 9 sept. I have a flight booked from Shangai to Melbourne on 14 sept and was hoping to stay on the 144 hour visa. However I have just realised that my flight to Melbourne is via Chongqing and I will have a 2/3 hour stopover. Does this invalidate the 144 hour visa - I have nonintention of leaving the airport.

You need a visa or different flights. Stopping in two transit zones immediately limits you to 24 hours transit without visa in China.
