About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shenzhen Transit Requirements

I plan to fly with 5J 5226 from MNL to SZX arriving 2.05 am.
and to fly with HU741 from SZX to ZRH departing 1.50 am. next day.
My passport is Swiss (Switzerland)

Do I need to request for a 144h visa free transit TWOV to check in on HU 741 or is there a transit check in available airside? And is it allowed to stay in transit for 24 hours?

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. You will declare at the check-in in Manila that you travel to Switzerland via Shenzhen in China using 24 hour visa free transit. You will immediately present the printouts of your tickets and after a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Shenzhen, you will approach the 24/144 counter where you will tells basically the same thing. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to exit the airport and this will be easy since you are flying on two separate tickets. Anyway, I suggest that you book your accommodation in advance and to have a printout of accommodation booking, especially a Chinese written name and address of your accommodation, so that a taxi could take you to the right place.

You don't have to bother about 144 hour TWOV because your transit time is less than 24 hours, so you will be covered with 24 hour TWOV.

OK, now I can see that you maybe intend to stay the whole time at the airport. Yes, you are allowed to do that, but you can also think about the nearby very affordable hotels. Well, this will be your decision.
