About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Sri Lanken to travel Through Shanghai (PVG)

Hi
I am a Sri Lankan Passport holder, this website says that Sri Lankans cannot have 24 hour visa exemption (not in the 53 countries)
I am travelling from Canada to Sri Lanka and I have a layover of 8 hrs (less than 24 hrs) in Shanghai (PVG) in between. I dont wish to go in to the country, and just want to be in the airport during my transit hours. Still do I need to get apply for a transit visa?

You have interpreted this rule in the wrong way. Sri Lankans are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit, but they are not eligible for such a scheme if transiting in Xiamen. In other words, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit with your itinerary. You really don't need any kind of visa.
