Work permit transfer and new passport

Hi everyone, I am having a confusing situation right now. I just got my new passport and my old passport and residence permit is valid till Feb 2020. Meanwhile, next week I am going to resign from my current job and transfer my work permit to a new employer.

What I have heard from different sources that within 10 days I need to transfer my residence permit from old passport to a new passport. Keeping in view I am resigning next week, I don’t think so my school will help me to transfer residence permit to a new passport in 10 days.

What should I do?

well, you need to transfer your work permit to a new employer, but you don't have to transfer your residence permit (if still valid) to your new passport. you could take the two passports when enter into or leave China.
