You are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai if your itinerary fulfills the following conditions:

- Your last port of call, immediately before Shanghai, should not be in mainland China
- Your flight from Shanghai should not have any kind of additional stop within mainland China and Japan

If the above conditions are fulfilled, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and can enjoy your stay in Shanghai completely visa free.
