What are consequences of being caught at beijing airport after visa expiry

My two friends left china on 10th August to come India but but they r coming via Beijing then bangkok and then india and on 10th August was the last date of visa and today at Beijing they have been caught by the officers and the officers said that they must b punished tomorrow what are the consequences they will face???.??

It sounds like the supervisor-on-duty has refused to handle their case at the airport (which, if he/she chose to do, would include a written and signed confession as well as a documented warning, and maybe a 500 CNY per day fine which can be paid with cash). Your friends may elect to try their luck at the airport again with a different supervisor (because it's only been two days) or go to the Exit and Entry Administration office located closest to where they are if their request is turned down again. Keep in mind that EEA will charge them around CNY 200 for an exit visa in addition to the fine and the visa itself takes 2-3 business days.
