About:Visa on Arrival

I am currently in Thailand on a usual 30 day free tourist visa

I am travelling to Shenzhen for 5 days to visit family then going back to Thailand for 1 week.
This will take me over my 30 day visa by 9 days as I have been in Thailand since July 19th.
On returning to Thailand will I get another 30 day visa so to avoid me getting an extension visa before i travel to SZ.
Kind regards Mark

it's hard to say anything regarding Thai visa policy because this forum is mostly about Chinese visa policy and travels through China using Chinese VOAs and visa free transit.

The only detail that could be of your help is to save you some money, maybe...

You should be planning to arrive to SZ by plane, but to depart from Hong Kong. Why? Because like this you would be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in SZ and the entire Guangdong province and this scheme is absolutely free. There are no fees at all.

So, to be eligible for this option, you should take a flight from Thailand to SZ and from Hong Kong to Thailand. Between SZ and Hong Kong you will use a ferry provided by CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport company. Please, keep in mind that you will have to book this ferry ticket even before your departure from Thailand and to keep an e-confirmation in your hand at the check-in in your Thai departure airport.

This ferry option is good because you can take a direct ferry from Shekou port to HKIA using their Skypier. Anyway, you should check whether your airline is among Participating Airlines for this very convenient transport option.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you with the central part of your question, but I just don't feel enough competent for Thai visa policy.
