About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling to Shanghai from Melbourne

Is there any other way to get the 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit via internet? so you have it already in your passport before your trip. Also, is your flight need to be direct to Shanghai? Like you can't have any stop in the mainland of China, you only can have one entry into the country, is that right?

If you want something in your passport before your trip, then you have to get a visa. For transit WITHOUT visa, your itinerary must be Country A - One Transit Zone in China - Country B. Just read this page that you posted on.

You must be in transit to a third country and only one mainland Chinese landing. Austtralia > Shanghai > Australia needs a visa for example. Australia > Shanghai > Japan would be example of a transit. There is a link on the Shanghai 144 hour transit page to apply in advance but it rarely works, it can also be done at the airport upon arrival, Its not something that can be put in your passport in advance unless you pay for a tourist visa as the CVASC in Australia
