About:China Visa Application in UK

Application in person only.

I have read that in the UK now you can only get a visa by applying in person as they take biometric data, is that correct?
Also does it make any difference that my wife is a Chinese citizen as I know some countries offer special conditions for spouses?

Yes, you need to go there to take fingerprints information unless you are older than 70. It makes no difference even though your wife is a Chinese.
