About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa for the following route

Flying into Shanghai from UK stay two days before joining my cruise ship. Going to Japan then flying back to UK from Hong. Kong. Do I need a visa

Dear, if you don't have other landings in mainland China and the immediate port of call of your cruise ship after leaving Shanghai is in a different country, then you have access to the 144hrs visa-free transit in Shanghai.
