About:China Student Visa

My Chinese Visitor Visa (valid for 10 years, category L) was canceled when I got my x-1 Student Visa

Why was my Chinese Visitor Visa (valid for 10 years, category L) canceled when I got my x-1 Student Visa issued? I went to China two years ago and got a visiting visa that is valid for 10 years. I am going to a university in Xian for a year and had to apply for the x1 visa. I just got my passport and visa back today to find that I did indeed get my X1, but on my visitor visa it says "canceled", why is this? Does this mean if I wanted to visit china again after my year studying I have to apply for another visitors visa?

You can't own two China visas at a time. When you get the new one, the old one will be cancelled. It's a common practice. If you want to visit China again after your study, you need to apply for another visa.
