About:China Visa on Arrival

HK as A and C

Arrive from London to HK and then going to (1) Shekou Port by ferry from SkyPier , getting 5 days VOA and then 5 days later return from Shekou Port to SkyPier in HK. It should work right ? Since they say HK and Macau can be A or C . Or ( 2) on return from Shekou I have to go first to Macau and then to HK SkyPier.. Thanks Zupan

Yes, you are allowed to take a ferry from HK SkyPier to Shenzhen Shekou port to obtain 5 days Shenzhen VOA. Please, just be informed about the VOA opening hours in Shekou:

9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 17:00

In case that your arrival cannot match the above opening hours, you will have to take a combination of bus & train to reach Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing. Less convenient, but unavoidable if you cannot reach Shekou port on time.

You can return directly from Shekou port to HK SkyPier because VOA by definition does not require countries A, B and C because this is not a visa free transit scheme, but a real visa. Of course, on arrival, but a real one. So, you really don't have to go to Macau. Normally, if you want to see it, then you will take a ferry from Shekou to Macau.

By the way, Shenzhen VOA does not require that you book anything in advance. You can perfectly book your ferry tickets on the spot when you arrive on the terminal.

One more detail... You should not cross the immigration upon your arrival in HK because if you do that, you will have to take a bus & train to reach Lo Wu / Luohu and you will not be able to use ferry. You have to look very closely and be focused to see where to go for ferry transfer to Shekou.

Well , my plane arrive in HK at 5 pm so that means I will miss the VOA office hours in Shekou . This means I can go from HK Sky Pier to Macau for 2 or 3 days and from there go to Shekou in the morning , this away I can gain almost a full day besides the 5 that I will get . right ? From there I go straight to HK Sky Pier and my flight is at 23:30 . I plan on arriving at Shekou port on 30th oct. and leave for HKIA Sky Pier on 4th nov. in the evening . That would work perfect . Thanks Zupan .

Yes, you are perfectly allowed to do that. In reality, this is a very good plan, but you have to know that the ferries between HKIA and Macau are just a few, unfortunately. Anyway, you will use an alternative to reach Macau using a bus over HZMB bridge or some other option.

Between Macau and Shenzhen Shekou, you can use relatively frequent ferries provided by TurboJet Ferry and you are right when you say that it is the best option to arrive as early as possible. I would suggest you to be on the first ferry departing from Macau Outer harbour at 09:30. Like this, you will be outside Shekou terminal at about 11:00 or something like this, with your Shenzhen VOA in the passport. The day of your arrival in Shenzhen is not counted against your available 5 days. This is literally speaking, day 0 and in the midnight begins your day 1.

At the end of day 5, you will have to depart from Shenzhen and you can use quite frequent service provided by CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport company between Shekou and Skypier of HKIA. Keep in mind that the last ferry to HKIA departs from Shekou at 21:00!

One more detail, if you want to use this service, it is compulsory to have the flight ticket (a print out of your e-ticket) in your hand to be allowed to board the ferry.

So, we can easily conclude that we have reached the best solution for your trip to southern China :)
