About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

How easy is the 144 hr transit free visa stay and do we qualify ?

We fly to Beijing and spend three nights in a hotel and are sightseeing independently . We then travel toTianjin and board a cruise ship and the first port of call is Japan. We also visit Taiwan and Hong Kong. This is a packaged holiday from a travel company. We fly home from Singapore.
Despite contacting the Chinese Embassy and a Visa company no one will advise us on the 144 hr transit stay. Is it a complicated process at the airport and do we need specific documents? We are considering applying for a visa but it is so expensive if not really needed. Thank you

You are wasting everyone's time by contacting the embassy and a visa company. They deal with visas, and you will not be getting a visa at all, so it is nothing to do with them. The process is not complicated at all and hundreds or thousands of people do it every day.

By the way, your itinerary is perfectly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing, but you should just take care that your flight from, I assume UK, does not have any additional landing in mainland China and Japan.
