About:China Transit Visa

Visa for short stay upto 24 hours

I am a Indian National and currently residing in Canada. I will be visiting India next month and on the way to India, I have a layover for 17 hours at Shanghai International Airport.
1). Does G Visa (transit visa) allows a person to enter China for a short stay up to 24 hours.?
2). Can I obtain a permit (or a G Visa) to enter China at Shanghai Airport or do I need to obtain a visa before departing from Canada.

Rooh, actually you don't need to apply for the G visa because you can use the 24-hour visa-free transit in Shanghai.
