Europe to Beijing to Europe
Hello,
I am a Canadian national currently in Europe and would wish to visit Beijing for a couple of days.
Unless I am misreading, any flight combination is permissible and makes me eligible for the 72-hour TWOV, so long as the country of departure "A" differs from the country of arrival "B", before and after a stay in Beijing. I would therefore conclude that such a flight combination as:
- Paris to Beijing to Berlin; or
- Amsterdam to Beijing to Prag;
- etc.
... would meet the criteria, as long as the stay in Beijing does not exceed the limit and I have an outbound ticket. Unless of course, the whole European Schengen Zone is considered the same place? But that is not the case, is it? Or is this one of those "grey zones" that risk displeasing the customs authorities? (compared to, say, Tokyo-Beijing-Paris or some such combination with a sense of "continuing in the same direction")
