About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Munich->Spain->Shenzhen + Shenzhen Shekou -> Hong Kong -> Munich

Hello, I really appreciate your team answering these questions with up to date information.

I am traveling to Shenzhen from Munich and would like to utilize the 144-hr TWOV rules. There are limited flight options from Munich (MUC) and so based on your previous answers, I plan on flying directly into Shenzhen from Europe and prior to the flight purchasing a ferry ticket from the Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal to present to the airlines and Chinese Customs, then I will leave on a flight from Hong Kong back to Munich at a later date. My question is, do you expect this plan to work and must I purchase or present my flight back to Munich from Hong Kong upon entering Shenzhen? I would prefer purchasing the return flight later so I hope just the ferry ticket is enough. Thanks in advance for any help!

You have understood all the necessary details perfectly.

So, your flight from Europe to Shenzhen has to be without any additional landing in mainland China. There are direct flights to Shenzhen from Frankfurt, Paris and London and probably from some other European cities, so you can use them for your journey.

It is also true that you have to book online in advance your ferry ticket from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal and you can do that through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport company website. Please, have in mind that you need to spend at least 25 hours in mainland China to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. So, keep in mind that the scheduled departure by your ferry has to be at least 25 hour later from your scheduled arrival by plane in Shenzhen.

You will receive an e-confirmation for your ferry ticket in your email inbox, you will print it out and use in Europe as a proof for your visa free transit itinerary: Europe - Shenzhen - Hong Kong. Also, you will present the same documents to the Chinese authorities upon your landing in Shenzhen. Keep in mind that you have to use exactly that ferry you have bought the tickets for!

As far as your return ticket from Hong Kong to Europe is concerned, this detail practically does not interests mainland Chinese authorities, so you can buy this ticket whenever you want.
