Exiting conditions chinese tourist visa

Hello,
I read that to get a Chinese tourist visa you need among other things to have a roundtrip ticket proof (or a proof that you'll exit the country before your visa expires), my idea was to after visiting mainland China going to HK, would the plain ticket from mainland China to HK be consider as a proof that I'm leaving the country?Thank you very much
