About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Cruise 1st Walls and Warriors then 12 night cruise.

Has anyone been on this holiday being their 1st visit to China and used 144 hour transit to travel through and 24 hour transit on return flight to Shangai.
I read a review where this guy obtained a full visa but some used the transit.
How arkward it is for us to obtain full visa, begin to wish we hadn't bothered.
Any help would be good.

If you are visit Xi’an then taking the train to Beijing, then you need a tourist (L) visa. For British citizens the fee will be £151 for the standard service.
