The most important detail is that your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. As far as your exit from the airport is concerned, you will have to apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Guangzhou. Since your layover is quite long and especially if it is during the night hours, your chances to be granted an entry permit are quite good. You should definitely enclose your accommodation booking confirmation to support your application. Anyway, you should be aware that an issuing of entry permit is not a passenger's right, but the issuing of entry permit is always upon discretion of immigration authorities on the day of your arrival. In reality, only the transit (G) visa is the tool that will assure you to be allowed to exit the airport. In my opinion, this is too short time for such a hassle and with relatively good probability that you will be allowed to exit the airport by applying for entry permit upon landing.
