About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Stop by Hong KOng before flying to Guangzhou

Hi, Can I fly from San Francisco to Hong Kong and fly from there to Guangzhou. Leave Hong by train and fly back to San Francisco. A travel agent told me that Hong Kong is not considered to be another country. Thanks.

Your travel agent gave you poor advice. Hong Kong is considered a third “country” for immigration purposes. But Hong Kong-Guangzhou-Hong Kong requires a visa because it’s a visit not a transit.
