Do I need visa for short stay in Hong Kong?

I am an Indonesian who is studying in NAIST Japan. I intend to take a short laboratory stay at City University of Hong Kong for about 1.5 months from September to October 2019. My question is do I need to apply for a visa to stay in Hong Kong in that mentioned period? If so, what requirements needed and how to apply? Thank you for your reply.

Yusuf, Japan citizen can stay in Hong Kong without visa for shorter than 90 days, so you don't need to apply for Chinese visa.

30 days' exemption but expect through questioning. Keep your return ticket and hotel reservation handy.
