About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Can I get transit visa if returning to the same destination

I want to visit Beijing from Edmonton Canada for 5 days.

I am flying from Edmonton to Beijing and back to Edmonton.

Can I get 144 hours visa?

No, you cannot. You simply miss the third country that is essential for your itinerary to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Also, there are no direct flights from Edmonton to China. In order to be eligible, assuming that you are of Canadian citizenship, your itinerary has to look something like this (just one example):

Edmonton - Seattle - Beijing - Vancouver - Edmonton

By the way, you should use correct terminology in order to avoid any possible misunderstandings. It is not 144 hours visa, but 144 hour visa free transit. So, there is no visa at all.
