Direct flight from Tapei to Harbin. Stay 3 days in Harbin. Harbin flight to Tokyo then?

I would like to go to the next Harbin Ice Festival in January 2020. Can I benefit from the 72-hour China Visa Exemption from Taipei (Taiwan) with the following: direct flight from Tapei to Harbin. Stay 3 days in Harbin. Harbin flight to Tokyo then ? One-way, direct flights, but on different airlines (China Southern and Asiana Airlines) Thanks for your help !

Thank you so much. This is clear ! One last question. What formality should I do before flying ? Nothing and just get on the plane and go to the 72-hour visa free counter in Harbin directly, or to warn someone before ?

Yes, you can. Your itinerary:

Taipei - Harbin - Tokyo

Is perfectly eligible for 72 hour visa free transit in Harbin. You can count on staying even e bit more longer than 72 hours because the counting of 72 hours in Harbin starts exactly at midnight of the day following the passenger’s arrival.

One more detail, you should be very careful with your statement that you are flying directly from Harbin to Tokyo because this is not a direct flight! This is connecting flight and your itinerary will be in reality:

Taipei - Harbin - Seoul

Keep in mind that only the immediate points before and after your Chinese destination matter! By the way, you are eligible also with the above mentioned itinerary. Just don't say that your itinerary is the first one because you can create a misunderstanding.

You have to print out your tickets and bring them with you in hard copy. Also, it is advisable to have an accommodation booking confirmation in hard copy. Everything you should do is to declare at the check-in counter in Taipei that you will travel to Seoul/Tokyo by using 72 hour visa free transit in Harbin. You will present your tickets and they will allow you to board the plane. After you arrive in Harbin, you will just look for 72 hour counter where you will tell exactly the same story. You will fill out the blue form and hand it along with your tickets to the immigration authorities. They will put a small sticker in your passport and let you leave the airport building. That's it.
