G type visa application - where possible?

Can I apply for the g type visa on a country I'm not a resident in? I am traveling for several months and couldn't apply for a tourist visa on my home country because it would have been expired by the time I reach China. I can't apply for a tourist visa on a country I'm a tourist in, but it's it possible to apply for the g type visa on a country that's not my home country? Thanks for your help

Ute, please specify the country you will apply for Chinese visa. Different countries have different policies, as I can't give you certain answer.

Hi Gloria, I'll try to get a tourist (L) visa in Bishkek/Kyrgyzstan next (I tried in tashkent/ Uzbekistan, but it was impossible to get one as a tourist in Uzbekistan). I think it's the same in Kyrgyzstan... That's why I was interested in how to apply for the 72 or even 144 hr transit Visa, so I can carry on travelling East :)
I'm travelling on a German passport.
Thanks for your help!

That is not a visa but a visa waiver which is only available at specific ports of entry and none of them are along the Western frontier. As of mid-2018 China has ceased visa issuance in almost all Central Asian countries for persons not residing there so your only choice is HK. However given your travel record in Central Asia they may also be reluctant to issue you a visa.

Hi, I've got another question regarding the transit in Urumqi.i would like to take a flight from Almaty (Kazachstan) to Auckland (NZ) with China southern airline. There will be 9 hours transit in Urumqi and 10 hours in Guangzhou. I will not leave the airport transit area. I read that only 2 hours transit in Urumqi is possible without having any visa for China. Is that true?

Yes, it is true. You can only enjoy visa-free transit for a maximum of 2 hours and are not allowed to get out of the airport.

Thanks for the quick, clear answer!
So, if you can only stay 2 hours in transit in Urumqi visa free, what kind of visa would I need for 9 hours transit in Urumqi and 8hrs in Guangzhou if I don't want to leave the airport? And how do I get that visa?
Sorry, so many questions, but it really seems to be so hard to just through China, without even getting out of the airport...
Thanks, I appreciate your help?!

Dear, if you just transit in Urumqi for less than 2 hours and your total stay in mainland China is shorter than 24 hours, you can enjoy 24h visa free transit; otherwise, you need to apply for transit visa in advance.

The only flight that allows you to transit Urumqi without a visa is CZ6022 which originates from Vienna and ends in Guangzhou. Other flights require a visa.
