About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Am I eligible for 144 visa free transit?

Hello, I'm italian and I was hoping to know if any of these itineraries are fine:
Italy - Shanghai (stay 5 days) - Japan - Taiwan - HK - Shanghai (24hrs) - Italy
- Shanghai - Italy : In this case I would arrive during the afternoon and leave on the next morning. Will I be able to leave the airport?
Italy - HK - Shanghai (5 days) - Japan - Guangzhou (1-2 days) - Taiwan - HK - Italy

Would it be fine to book a return ticket from Italy to Shanghai and then with different airlines separate tickets for the other destinations?

Dear, you can choose Italy - HK - Shanghai (5 days) - Japan - Guangzhou (1-2 days) - Taiwan - HK - Italy. Plus, it would be fine to book a return ticket from Italy to Shanghai and then with different airlines separate tickets for the other destinations.

Thank you very much. The important thing is that I don't make 2 consecutive stops (and stay) in mainland China, am I right?

Exactly. Also, it is important that you don't return to the same country immediately after you reach your Chinese destination. I would suggest you to make your stay in Guangzhou at least 25 hours long, so that you become eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

I just booked a return ticket to Singapore. Just to be sure , from there, am I eligible for 144 hr visa exemption doing following:
Singapore - Hong Kong (2days) - Shanghai (5 days) - Japan - Taiwan - Guangzhou (34hours starting from 00:00 of the following day until departure time) -Singapore ?

Your itinerary is perfectly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in both Shanghai and Guangzhou.
