About:Visa on Arrival

Hi, we are flying from the UK to HK then going to Shenzhen port

Staying over one night then going on a 5 day cruise to Japan then back to HK. Do we need a Chinese Visa for this?

To enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong, you will have to apply for VOA at the border crossing between Hong Kong and mainland China, preferably at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing. After that you are allowed to stay in Special Economic Zone and also to depart by cruise to some other country. Please, have in mind that it is not allowed that the first port call, immediately after your departure from SZ, is in mainland China.
