Zambian in Malaysia trying to enter china for holiday and exit

I have a single entry into China but i am supposed to visit Malaysia which means my single entry expires. Could it be useful if i went to Hong Kong or Macau then apply for an entry Visa into china where id need to finish off my holiday and then exit back home to Africa? Kindly note that my flight ticket is a return ticket to and from China.
