About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need to pay for a visa to leave the airport?

Hello,
I am a United States citizen. I will be on a return flight from Vietnam to the USA with an over night layover in Beijing, China. Do I need to pay for a visa to leave the airport? Or do I qualify for the free visa transit policy? If so, how to apply of the visa?

Rachel,your itinerary is eligible for 24/ 144 hours transit without visa, so you don't need to apply for a visa.
