About:Visa on Arrival

Can I enter in Shenzhen, China from Hong Kong and return via Zhuhai, Guongdong, China?

I understand that there are additional cities near Shenzhen that are also allowed to be visited during the 5 day VOA.

Dave, in case that you have obtain VOA, you are allowed to travel only within the Special Economic Zone. In other words, you are not allowed to travel to Zhuhai or any other place within Guangdong province. This visa is strictly territory limited and you should not violate this aspect of this VOA. Also, you can return to Hong Kong only from SZ or fly out from Bao'an airport out of the country completely, but without any layover within mainland China.

In case that you intend to visit Guangdong province and to move around freely, I suggest you to use 144 hours visa free option:

- Take a flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou
- Move around throughout Guangdong province for 6 days including Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and many more places
- Depart from Shenzhen Shekou port to Macau by ferry (this is inevitable because to be eligible you need a third country, i.e. your itinerary has to be Hong Kong - Guangzhou - Macau)
- Depart from Macau to Hong Kong

Of course, this option requires that you book your ferry ticket online, in advance and to travel by exactly that ferry you have booked your ticket for. In any case, this option appears to be more suitable for your needs, especially when you realize that the price for Shenzhen VOA for US citizens is 956 CNY. In other words, it is probably more economical to use this money to book a flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and to enjoy 144 hours visa free scheme that allows you free movement of the very large area.
