Do you still need to get your finger prints registered at the Chinese embassy?

If you are visiting China either on a 144 or 24 hour Visa free do you still need to get your finger prints registered at the Chinese embassy?

It's not a visa but a transit without a visa. Finger print will be taken at the airport upon arrival
