Arrival in Shanghai by cruise, then 2 night stay, fly out to UK via Hong Kong

I will be arriving in Shanghai by cruise ship from Sasebo, Japan, then staying 2 nights in Shanghai. Then fly back to Manchester, UK via Hong Kong. Am I able to apply for a 72-hour visa? If not then what type of visa do I need? Many thanks
Janet, UK
