Travelling from Sydney (Australia) to Islamabad (Pakistan) via Beijing

Hi,

I am a Pakistani passport holder holding a permanent residency visa in Australia. I am travelling one way from Sydney, Australia to Islamabad, Pakistan via Air China with a 10 hour lay over in Beijing. Do I need a transit visa if I intend to go outside Beijing airport (a day trip for a 3-4 hours to Beijing city centre) by crossing immigration and then coming back to the airport for my onward flight to Islamabad, Pakistan?

No, you don't need the transit visa because you will be eligible for the 24h visa-free transit in Beijing.

It's required for Pakistanis transiting in Xiamen but you are not.

Hi Cissy,

Sounds cool. Can you share the source of your information? (a weblink if available?) I'm just a little bit apprehensive about this and don't want to run into any unforeseen troubles at the immigration in China.
