Change Single entry to double entry visa

Dear,
I have a single entry tourist visa for 37 days. I arrived in China 2 weeks ago. I would like to visit Vietnam and after that return to China for another visit.
Is there a possibility to change my single entry toerist visa into a double entry tourist visa?
Or do I need to apply for a new Chinese tourist visa once I enter Vietnam?
Thank you!

Keijzer, you cannot change your single entry into a double entry visa. Please apply for a new one when you are in Vietnam.

THanks Cici. That's ok with me. Can you let me know what/how/where I can start processing my visa extension please?
