About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Arrive back to China 1 day before my res perm expires

I currently work on a temporary residency permit that expires on August 19th 2019. I have a planned trip outside of China on August 1-18th arrive at 10pm on the 18th. I start my new job and will go to PSB and the police station first thing in the morning on the 19th to apply for my new residency permit. Will I be allowed back into China on the 18th?

Julio, you are allowed to go back China on Aug 18. However, as I know, you need to renew your residence permit at least 7 months before it expires. Therefore, you are advised to renew your residence permit before your journey outside China.

I’m moving from Beijing to Shanghai. As I understand it, my current employer is cancelling my work permit the first week of July and my next employer in Shanghai is applying for my new work permit and residency permit in shanghai at the same time. I’ll go with her to the police station to update my residency. I spoke with the Beijing police station and they told me I could call before I leave to update them that I’ll be moving to shanghai. I just wanted to be sure I’ll be able to re-Enter on the 18th without a problem. Thank you!
