About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Traveling in this route: Singapore - Qingdao - Seoul

Hello,
I'll be traveling from Singapore to Qingdao to Seoul. I bought my flight so that I will be in Qingdao for about 60 hours. I am a US citizen and I'd like to take advantage of the 72/144 hour visa-free travel. Just to confirm, this is possible, right?
Also, I will need to 1. Go to the visa-free counter at the airport upon arriving to obtain a transit permit, 2. Register in a police station in the next 24 hours - which is typically done at a hotel. If I stay at an airbnb, can I also skip the step of registering at a police station? If I stay at a hotel, how do I know that the hotel registered me?

Thank you!

As long as the Qingdao stop is the only mainland landing then you can do the 144 hour transit (Qingdao moved from 72 to 144 hour transit as of 2019).

If you are staying in a hotel don't worry about it. airbnb will need police station registration, just like with staying at a private residence. It can be next to impossible to accomplish if you don't speak Chinese, so the host will likely need to escort you to handle the process.
