About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi there,
I'm planning flights back to the US after a vacation in Australia. I want to spend a whole day doing tourist stuff (mainly Great Wall). Can you let me know if this itinerary is okay?
Arrive into PEK 4:40am on 04JAN. Depart 11:25pm on 05JAN.
Do I qualify for a 72 hour visa or a 24 hour visa?
