About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa for landing in Shanghai and Hangzhou

Hi there,

3 colleagues of mine are travelling from LHR to Shanghai - landing in Shanghai on 7th July. On the 9th July they then get the train to Hangzou for the day before flying to HK in the evening of the 9th. They then fly back to London from HK on the 12th July.

Do they need Visas?

Thanks!

They don't need any kind of visa because their itinerary is definitely qualified for 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai area. It's also fine to use different airports because they are both located within a single transit area. They should just take care that their flights London - Shanghai and Hangzhou - Hong Kong don't have any additional landing(s) within mainland China.

UK and Greek passports are eligible for 144 hours visa free transit.
