About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Route: Copenhagen-Shanghai-HK-Copenhagen

Hi, i will be flying from Copenhagen to Shanghai for a few days, then return through Hong Kong. Would this route qualify for a 144 hour visa free transit to Shanghai? I will be staying in Hong Kong only a few hours before the continuing flight back to Scandinavia.

Actually, your itinerary is:

Copenhagen - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Copenhagen (or any other airport in Scandinavia)

If those are all your stops within an itinerary, you are definitely qualified for 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai.

Thank you very much! To make sure, my itinerary is actually:

Oslo - Copenhagen - Shanghai (144hr stay) - Hong Kong - Copenhagen - Oslo

but I guess an Oslo extension is ok, as long as I am flying in and out of Copenhagen and Hong Kong?

Along the same line, would the following work?

Oslo - Copenhagen - Shanghai - Stockholm - Oslo? (i.e., with copenhagen and stockholm in more or less the same region, no?)

Thank you very much for your help. I now feel safe to book my ticket!

Suzanne, both of your mentioned itineraries are perfectly eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai area. I understand why do you comment your latter itinerary as maybe a suspicious one because you have heard a rumors saying that the Chinese authorities consider Scandinavia to be one region, so an itinerary of this kind would not be eligible. In reality, there are even rumors telling that Chinese authorities consider entire EU to be one region and similar stuff. None of that is true and whatever itinerary of those mentioned above you will use, you will be granted your visa free transit in China.
