About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Qingdao

hi I have a flight to Qingdao from Incheon and after that from there to houston via Beijing.

is this workable for the 144 hours visa free policy?

No, unfortunately not because you are not allowed to travel through two transit zones (Qingdao and Beijing in your case) consecutively and remain eligible for 144 hours visa free transit. Anyway, you are allowed to travel on that itinerary visa free, but under 24 hours visa free transit. So, you can use this itinerary, but you should not cross 24 hours starting from your scheduled arrival in Qingdao until your scheduled departure from Beijing.
