About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Check-in luggage

I have a Danish passport and I am currently staying in China and have a flight returning to Denmark, flying from Qingdao via Beijing. I would like to travel to Seoul just before going home, which would mean that I would need the 24 hours transit visa when returning to Qingdao to catch my flight back to Denmark. I would stay in China for less than 24 hours.
However, I will bring all my luggage with me to Seoul, and I need to have my suitcase checked in for the flight from Qingdao->Beijing->Copenhagen. Is this possible?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I am still wondering, though, how it is possible to exit the in-transit area to check in and to check in my luggage for a different flight?

Okay, thank you!

Is it difficult getting the 24 hours transit permit? I lived in China in 2010-11 and overstayed my visa. I have since, however, gotten a business visa my latest stay.

Okay. That sounds good, thank you! I am still a bit in doubt if I dare since I need to catch my connection back to Denmark.
If I go, I would leave my luggage in Qingdao and pick it up upon arrival back to China. I guess that would also not be a problem with the 24 hours visa-free entry permit? (As long as I only stay in China for less than 24 hours)

Furthermore, and hopefully my last question, how is the procedure for getting the 24 hours visa-free entry permit?

Dear Zupan, thank you for your reply! Yes, the flight from Seoul - Qingdao and Qingdao - Beijing are booked separately and are separate flights. Thank you :)

Ann, this possibility is integral part of 24 hours visa free transit. In case that you don't need to collect your luggage and make new check-in, the authorities will retain you within the transit area, but if you need to do that, you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit upon your landing and after your application is granted, you will be allowed to make new check-in. You have to know that people, while using 24 hours visa free transit, if a layover is longer one, use the opportunity to even make a visit to the city they are transiting through :). So, you are perfectly allowed to do that.

Of course, you can do that because you will make a transfer from an international, i.e. Seoul - Qingdao to domestic, i.e. Qingdao to Beijing flights, so there is no way that you remain within the transit area. This is simply not possible. Upon arrival in Qingdao you will approach the counter located before immigration where you will present your tickets all the way to Copenhagen in hard copy. From those tickets, the authorities will realize that you are in China just for transit purposes any you will receive a small sticker in your passport where it will be clearly stated the time you are allowed to stay in China. After this is accomplished, they will let you exit the airside area to perform new check-in for your flight to Beijing. In reality, at that very moment you will be literally in China and you will be free to spend your time within the entire city and even to collect your luggage. You should just plan carefully and allow enough time to accomplish everything you have in mind.

Ann, could you just confirm that your flights Seoul - Qingdao and Qingdao - Beijing are separate flights, i.e. that they fly under different flight codes (numbers). Thanks.
