About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling from Dubai via Shanghai to Hongkong or Taiwan

Hi,
Is the 144 hours visa free transit rule in Shanghai applicable for the route Zurich - Dubai - Shanghai - HONGKONG - Dubai - Zurich? Or alternatively Zurich - Dubai - Shanghai - TAIWAN - Dubai - Zurich?
Reason: Hongkong and Taiwan situation with China somewhat contradictory....

Andre, there is nothing contradictory and your both itineraries are definitely eligible for 144 hours visa free transit because although Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau are Chinese territories, they are treated as third countries for the visa free transit purposes, i.e. to attract more passengers in the area.
