144 hours visa-free transit for Premier League Asia Trophy?

My family (4 adults, all UK passport holders) are flying from London Heathrow for 5 nights in Shanghai. During our time in China we are attending football matches in Nanjing and Shanghai. On the 6th day we are flying from Pudong International Airport to Vienna, where we will spend a few days, before returning to London Heathrow.

Are we eligible for the 144 hours visa-free transit?

Yes, you are eligible for 144 hour visa free if your travel route is London - Shanghai - Nanjing - Vienna. You can apply for the visa free upon arrival at Shanghai airport.

Thanks very much for the confirmation. I did put the same question last week to the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection but no reply - as yet.
